How an NFC horse tag works
NFC is the same short-range technology commonly used for contactless interactions. A compatible phone is held close to the tag and opens the programmed EQ Tap web address. The QR code points to the same live profile.
The physical tag carries the secure link rather than trying to store the full horse record. This means the owner can correct or update the profile while the tag stays in use.
Where an EQ Tap tag may be useful
Different tags can be associated with the same horse and used on suitable equipment or locations, such as a headcollar, stable area, travel kit or labelled care equipment. The right placement depends on the horse, equipment and daily routine.
Each physical tag has its own status. Losing one tag does not require the entire horse profile to be removed.
Designed around real-world failure points
Phones, networks and tags can fail, so EQ Tap does not present itself as the only source of emergency information. QR provides a second route, owners can keep conventional identification, and important records should still be maintained elsewhere where required.
Before relying on a tag, the owner should test both the NFC and QR routes on the fitted tag and keep the public information current.
